NEW YORK STATE SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER RELEASES NEW ENTRESKILLS™ PROGRAMS
Albany – The New York State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has released two new online versions of its EntreSkills programs, EntreSkills for Veterans and EntreSkills for Entrepreneurs, providing new interactive educational tools for future entrepreneurs.

“The content and functionality of the curricula have been completely rewritten and programmed to meet the changing needs of aspiring entrepreneurs as well as veterans returning to college following military service,” said Brian Hutzley, Vice Chancellor for Financial Services & Chief Financial Officer of the State University of New York, which hosts 24 SBDC centers on college campuses throughout New York. “New versions of these very important programs will better equip our veterans and business leaders of tomorrow with the skills they need to be successful in today’s job market.”

SBDC Executive Director James King said, “We couldn’t be more pleased with the release of the new and improved EntreSkills programs. The enriched content, video clips, supplemental activities and web resources combine to offer a focused approach to entrepreneurship, and the ability to work with these programs remotely is especially valuable while collaborating with one of our many business advisors.”

A unique enhancement to the new EntreSkills for Veterans and EntreSkills for Entrepreneurs is the development of a business plan builder component. As veterans complete the chapters and respond to questions posed, the data will be automatically captured and compiled into a business plan. Once the chapters and questions are completed, a draft business plan will be available for the participant to review, modify, and use.
In addition, SBDC recently incorporated client videos into the EntreSkills for Veterans program. Each video ties together the real-life experiences of a client with a specific chapter within EntreSkills for Veterans, enhancing learning for participating clients, including:

o A Plus Moving Services, Inc. – Niagara Falls, NY
o WebHouse – Rockville Centre, NY
o W.L. Concepts & Production, LLC – Uniondale, NY
o ERRA Surgical Supplies – Pleasantville, NY
