Albany – The New York Small Business Development Center (SBDC) announced three of its clients as 2017 Syracuse District Small Business Week Award winners, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Rommel Fence, LLC, based in Poland, NY was named as the Syracuse District Small Business Person of the Year. The business owned by Mary Rommel. Rommel Fence was started in 1965 and has grown into a multi-million dollar enterprise with a customer portfolio ranging from airports and bridges to prisons and warehouses. The business is a client of the Mohawk Valley SBDC, who nominated them for the award.
Saving Face Barber Shop of Camillus, NY was named as the Syracuse District Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Owner Anthony Nappa launched the business at the age of 20, and has since grown it to two locations and 11 employees. Nappa is a client of the Oswego SBDC.
Susan Jablon Mosaics, LLC, based in Binghamton, NY was named the New York State Small Business Exporter of the Year. Jablon started her glass mosaic tile business out of her spare bedroom in 2000. Today, the company manufactures custom mosaic glass tile for residential and commercial clients in the U.S., Caribbean, China, France, and the United Arab Emirates. Jablon is a client of the Binghamton SBDC.
