After Howard Hellman founded All Bright Electric, an electrical contracting company, in 1969, the business enjoyed modest growth through the mid 1990s.  Howard first consulted the SBDC in 1988 for assistance in developing a business plan and locating financing for an expansion. A few years later, in 1991, he returned to explore his options for pursuing government contracts. In 1997, he once again turned to the SBDC for advice on enhancing incentive plans for his senior staff, and compliance issues.

With assistance from the SBDC, All Bright created a 5-year strategic business plan focusing on growth opportunities and requirements.  Howard determined that hiring key professionals was critical to the company’s growth, and identified two new employees – one to oversee internal operations and maintenance, and the other to oversee large projects, bids, and IBEW manpower.  The core team made all the difference, and by the end of 1999, sales grew 24%, project awards increased to 35%, and the average daily manpower grew from 30 to 55.

In 1999, Howard was recognized with the Rockland County Legislature Chairman’s Business Appreciation Award.  Currently, All Bright is a leader in highly technical projects with extensive capabilities in data, network and signal wiring, is licensed and working in Rockland, Westchester, Orange, and Berger (NJ) Counties, and has agreements with IBEW locals across the tri-state area.
