In 2022, Genevieve Geer relocated her glass art business to a historic railway station in Marathon, NY. With help from the Onondaga SBDC, she secured a $31,500 Cortland County MAP Grant to expand her operations. Advisor Paul Brooks assisted her in developing a business plan and cash flow projections, helping her identify growth areas. The grant enables her to purchase new equipment, broaden her product line, and offer glass-making demonstrations for the community.

SBDC Advisor:
Paul Brooks
In 2024, Genevieve Geer connected with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Onondaga while applying for a Cortland County MAP Grant. SBDC advisor Paul Brooks guided her through creating a detailed business plan and cash flow projections to strengthen her grant application and clarify her business goals.
With the $31,500 grant awarded, Genevieve invested in additional glass and metalworking equipment, enabling her to expand her product offerings and engage the local community through glass-making demonstrations. The SBDC’s assistance also helped her identify profitable areas to focus on, ensuring sustainable growth for LE Puppet Regime LLC.
Le Puppet Regime
Founded in 2013 in Philadelphia, Genevieve Geer’s company, Le Puppet Regime specializes in custom-manufactured, wholesale glass ornaments, art, and lighting. When Genevieve and her husband Sam found a decommissioned railway station in Marathon, New York, they saw the perfect opportunity to relocate and expand their operations, converting the historic concrete structure into a studio and production space in 2022.
The unique setting offered both a distinct aesthetic and the practical advantage of safely housing high-powered equipment necessary for glass and metal manufacturing. Over the years, Genevieve’s business has evolved from selling at art shows to securing over 130 wholesale clients, including notable accounts like the Corning Museum of Glass and a large retailer in Salem, MA.
