New York SBDC Bolsters its Advisory Board with the addition of Distinguished Leaders

Strategic Enhancements to the Advisory Board Aim to Fortify Support for New York’s Small Businesses

 

Albany, NY – The New York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC) is thrilled to announce the addition of four accomplished leaders to its Advisory Board: Rahsaan Graham, Noa Simons, James P. Youngs, and Denise Padula. This expansion signifies the NYSBDC’s commitment to enriching its support network for small businesses across the state by integrating new and diverse expertise and perspectives.

Rahsaan Graham

Rahsaan Graham, Principal of Battle and Banner Consulting and CEO of Jade Empire LLC, has two decades of cross-sector leadership and business development experience. His passion for fostering the entrepreneurial spirit and his relational approach to business mentoring led him to develop a business incubation initiative in Jamestown, NY, dedicated to supporting minority and women-owned businesses. Graham’s projects spur local and state collaborations, and his commitment to community-driven business solutions positions him as a key asset to the NYSBDC Advisory Board.

Noa Simons

Noa Simons, President and CEO of the Upstate Capital Association of New York, is an entrepreneur, investor, and ecosystem builder. Her leadership has significantly increased companies’ access to capital throughout New York State. Simons’ extensive network and innovative approach to fostering collaboration and inclusion across the entrepreneurial ecosystem will bring invaluable insights to the NYSBDC. Her expertise in connecting startups with growth opportunities aligns with the NYSBDC’s mission to support business development and success.

James P Youngs

James P. Youngs, Litigation Department Chair at Hancock Estabrook, LLP, offers extensive legal expertise. He advises entrepreneurs, startups, and emerging businesses on protecting intellectual property rights and formulating IP strategies, including registration, licensing, and litigation.

His guidance on navigating MWBE Certification empowers diverse entrepreneurs and small businesses. Youngs’ role will significantly enhance the NYSBDC’s support for entrepreneurs and small businesses in complex legal environments.

Denise Padula

Denise Padula, president and owner of Alchar Printing since 2006, leads with distinction in the Troy business community. As a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise leader, Padula’s dedication extends beyond her business to serving on several industry and workforce development boards. Her active engagement in the community and advocacy for small businesses showcase her as a crucial asset to the NYSBDC Advisory Board.

Sonya Smith, NYSBDC State Director, expressed her excitement about the new appointments: “As we look to continue to bolster our mission of serving small businesses across NYS through advisement and training, in addition to empowering and advocating for them. The appointment of Rahsaan, Noa, James, and Denise to our Advisory Board marks a significant step forward. Their collective expertise and dedication are set to strengthen our organization and the small business community we are committed to serving. Their innovative contributions and perspectives will help push the organization forward.”
