Financial Support

Funding Disclosures

The New York SBDC program is primarily funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), with a required 1:1 match from non-federal sources. Matching funds come from a combination of state support, host institutions (such as colleges and universities), and, in some cases, local or private partners like counties, cities, foundations, and nonprofits.

Across the country, in many cases, state governments often play a leading role in helping to meet the federal match requirement—fully providing the required match funding or the majority of match funding to ensure that SBDC programs remain fully funded and able to serve small businesses in every corner of their state. Presently, this level of coordinated support is not fully established within New York State. As a result, the SBDC network relies on a patchwork of shared and collaborative funding strategies to meet the federal 1:1 match requirement. While this approach has allowed us to maintain statewide reach and deliver consistent, localized services, it underscores the need for a more sustainable and unified state funding structure to ensure long-term impact.

Below are the current 2025 annual funding allocations for the New York SBDC program. This information is updated regularly.
